Apprehending rout, Abdullah's make statements in desperation | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 21: Apprehending rout in Lok Sabha elections, National Conference (NC) president, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are issuing statements in total desperation. Facing threat from arch rival People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which is in a commanding position in Kashmir Valley, the father-son duo are in deep frustration and making day in and day out statements against the PDP leaders launching personal attacks on them. The two leaders of NC deliver provocative spee-ches in violation of Moral Code of Conduct. The emotive speeches made by the two leaders have generated public resentment with leaders of BJP and PDP making complaints before Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer of J&K. The leaders of both the parties while taking serious exception of the provocative statements of father-son duo have demanded action against the NC leaders. Sources said that the statement made by NC president and Union Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah against BJP is highly provocative and can generate hatred among the different communities and the Election Commission should take serious cognizance of it. By accusing PDP of having tacit understanding with BJP and terming its leaders creators of PDP, the NC leaders were forgetting that they were the part of NDA Government for five years at Centre during the Vajpayee Government and did not protest against the Gujarat violence when some other partners of NDA came out of it, sources said. Sources said nationalist forces in the State have also taken serious exception to Dr Abdullah's statement by terming Kashmir a dispute and settling the issue with Pakistan. They have urged the Congress to clarify its stand on the same. Questioning the statement of Dr Abdullah they said that it was a challenge to unity and integrity of the nation and Dr Abdullah be taken to task for the same.
