Desperate NC turns to Azad for help | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 21: It seems that National Conference has sensed its defeat in the ongoing parliamentary elections and that is why the party has requested former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad to campaign for its candidates. Pertinently Azad addressed an election rally in South Kashmir today and is scheduled to hold more such rallies in South as well as other parts of Kashmir valley. Political observers believe that leaders of National Conference have understood it well that people have decided to go for a change. As Azad is the politician of great repute, National Conference has decided to utilize his services to cause maximum damage to Peoples' Democratic Party. "How long can National Conference sustain itself on the blame game? This time people want a change in the overall set up. The stunning remarks of NC leaders have proved to be of no help,'' said Aftab Ahmad from Pulwama. Aftab said that NC leaders have realized that they are weak to pose a challenge in the ongoing parliamentary elections. This he believes has forced the leaders of the party to take support of Azad more so in South Kashmir where the party is all set to taste defeat. National Conference President and the candidate for Srinagar-Budgam-Ganderbal Lok Sabha seat, Dr. Farooq Abdullah is making astonishing statements but these are not working to motivate the voters towards his party. He charges PDP with pursuing the agenda of BJP, but he forgets that NC was a party to NDA. It is likely that in the coming days NC president's astounding statements will be greater in intensity. If his party fails to win any seat, he may come out with a statement that Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are the two sides of the same coin. "NC will readily forge an alliance with Congress or BJP to remain in the power. Otherwise sharing dais with the Congress leaders gives heartburns to NC workers," said a group of people while sharing views with Early Times. This group of people said that NC is going through the worst times as it needs the outside help despite its tall claims that it is the only party that represents the aspirations of the people of the state. They believe that debacle of the party is because of its under-performance and mis-governance. "One never knows which way the wind is going to blow .Everything will be clear on the counting day. If Modi led NDA succeeds in forming the government at the centre, then the leaders of regional parties like NC will for sure change the tune. Don't be surprised if there is a change of heart of the NC leaders," said Imtiyaz Ahmad from Ganderbal.
