Design-Driven Innovation workshop concludes | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 21: A first of its kind "Design-Driven Innovation Workshop" was organized for students at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology from April 15th to 19th. IIM-A and BITS-Pilani alumnus, Kunal Gupta along with Priya Ganadas from IIT Mumbai were the resource persons for the workshop. The workshop took the students through the process of innovation based on fundamentals of design-driven thinking. At the conclusion of the workshop six students were selected to undergo one-month innovation camps at the National Innovation Foundation, Ahmedabad and IIT Mumbai during which they are expected to refine their ideas further and come out with the business plan to take their concepts to market. These internships are funded by the National Innovation Foundation, which is an autonomous body of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The theme of the workshop was women and child safety and the students came up with ten innovative mobile apps to cover different aspects. While some of the apps focused on allowing women to report incidents of teasing and harassmentincluding initiating SoS calls and messages others aimed at creating a crowd-sourced platform for sharing issues and views. This workshop is a precursor to the launch of the "Center for Innovation" at MIET which shall focus on creating innovative solutions to common problems and involve students in practical research. |
