Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 21: As many as 150 trucks and 50 buses will ferry official record and employees to Srinagar during Darbar move, which would close here on April 25 and will re-open in Valley on May 5.
"150 trucks and 50 buses will be deployed for ferrying official record and employees on April 26 and 27 and on May 3 and 4," an official here today said. He said all arrangements have also been made for providing escort to the employees and convoy carrying the official record from Jammu to Srinagar.
The Civil Secretariat and other government offices will close in this winter capital on April 25 and will reopen in Summer Capital Srinagar on May 5.
"The government offices observing five day week shall close in Winter Capital Jammu on April 25 (Friday) after the office hours and the offices observing six day week shall close on April 26 (Saturday) after the office hours," he said.
"All the departments have been asked to ensure that records are packed in boxes after working hours on last working day of the offices," he said, adding that the offices moving in camp shall carry only 33 per cent of the strength of staff in that particular office or with 10 officials whichever is minimum. All departments have been asked to send their advance parties on April 21, comprising one gazetted officer and four to five non-gazetted employees to receive the records in Srinagar.
The practice of shifting of the 'Darbar' was started in 1882 during Maharaja's time to meet the aspirations of the people living in far-flung areas of the state
