Kishtwar, Apr 21: In a new twist in a standoff between the employees, SP Kishtwar and District Election Officers Kishtwar, the employees association heading the ongoing agitation in Kishtwar demanding action against SP and DC Kishtwar for misbehaving with ARO Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik and abandoning of polling staff at Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan today send an electronic communication (Email) to Election Commissioner of India claiming that few members among the polling staff deployed in remote Marwah Tehsil of Kishtwar District were untraceable and seek the help of the commission to help them in tracing these employees beside make an appeal to the commission to initiate the action against District Election Officer Kishtwar and SP Kishtwar for their negligence in handling the issue.
In this email sent to ECI, the employees association hails the efforts of ECI in conducting the elections throughout the country and alleging that in Kishtwar District, the polling staff deployed in far-flung areas of the District has been deprived from the benefits given to them in terms of providing them the food, shelter and bedding. The email also soliciting to ECI to conduct the probe into alleged bungling in the election funds put at the disposal of District Election Officer Kishtwar and SP Kishtwar. Meanwhile the employees' associations refuse to meet Deputy Inspector General of Police Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range Ashkoor Wani till police did not registered an FIR against SP Kishtwar, SHO Dachhan and in charge PP Inshan, beside demanded for withdrawal of an FIR against the agitating employees. Earlier DC Kishtwar also send an emissary Nisar Ahmed Doolwal so as to pursue the agitating employees for talks, but the agitating employees refuse to come on any negotiation table until and unless their demands could be meted out.
They also handed over the list of demands to DC Kishtwar through the emissary sent by him which includes immediate airlifting of stranded polling staff whose life is at risk due to hostile weather condition and hypersensitivity of the area in the context of the security, ensuring that FIR lodged by the ARO Kishtwar be implemented, lodging of FIR against SHO Dachhan and Inshan for use of excessive power against polling staff, High level judicial enquiry into bungling of funds meant for lodging and boarding as District Election Officers made false promise that RDD department had put all arrangements in place for polling staff and grant of additional honorarium in favour of the polling staff deputed outside District Headquarter on distance and topography bases.
It is pertinent to mention that for the first time in the history of the state, even First Class Magistrate posted at Kishtwar hit the road and joined the protesting employees protesting against alleged misbehavior with ARO Kishtwar by SP Kishtwar. When last report came in, DC Kishtwar was seen exploring all its option to reach out the agitating employees as he (DC Kishtwar) felt alone as all the employees posted in DC Office Kishtwar are on strike. He was even seen to dispatch the letter himself addressing the employees to participate in the meeting to be attended by the DIG DKR. In reaction to DC Kishtwar efforts, agitating employees feels that DC Kishtwar was never the party and whatever he did last night by issuing a mischievous press statement, DC Kishtwar invitees unnecessary trouble for himself that has badly dented his image not only before the employees but before the people of Kishtwar as well.
