KATHUA, June 17: Vicky Sharma of Budhi won the four kilometers 'Run for Fun', organised by the J&K Police in connection with ongoing week-long Raising Day celebrations, here today. Vicky presented with a cash prize of Rs 2000 while second position holder Abhishek Sangral of ward number four Kathua to receive Rs 1500 cash prize. Randhir Singh of ward number three remained third to get Rs 1000 prize. A consolation prize worth Rs 500 was given away to nine-year old Gourav Sharma of Badala Kathua. In the prize distribution function, held at Dream Land Park, SP Kathua, Mohan Lal was chief guest, who gave away the trophies and certificates. Earlier, the race was flagged off from the District Police Lines by SP Kathua. Around 350 young men took part in this run passing through Nagri Adda, Nagri Turning, Shaheedi Chowk and Government Degree College Gate, Kathua to culminate at Dream Land Park, here. Speaking to the gathering, SP Kathua encouraged the youth towards sports activities. He said that sports help promote brotherhood and keep the youth away from bad habits. |
