Infuriated by innocuous phone call, threatens to severe connection of caller | JE imitates CM in rage | | Bivek Mathur Jammu, June 17: Take a clue from Chief Minister's public display of anger, a JE in the PDD Udhampur threatened a caller who called him to know the status of unscheduled power cut in the area. The irate and insensitive JE identified as Ashok Gupta also suggested the caller to purchase a generator if he was finding it too hot. A family of Udhampur that wished anonymity contacted concerned JE Ashok Gupta, Syal Sallan area when the PDD department could not restore the electricity supply for over three hours in the night and over two hours in the morning. The concerned JE, rather than passing on the information to the caller which was his legitimate duty, threatened and questioned the identity of the caller, a recording of which is in possession of Early Times. Failing to ascertain the identity of the person on call, he managed a call through his Lineman and asked him to find out whereabouts of the person. After Lineman disclosed the identity of the person, the JE asked the person on call to purchase a generator if the later was so much unhappy with the power cuts; also he threatened the caller of disconnecting the electricity connection within days just for the reason that the latter was trying to know the reason behind the unscheduled power cuts. Contacted by Early Times, the JE in question first denied the rude behavior from his end and later disconnected the call in rage. Minister for Power, Vikar Rasool when contacted, promised action against the erring JE. |
