In anticipation of another rout, Coalition partners face internal Tsunami

SRINAGAR, June 17: Recent drubbing in the parliamentary elections has started manifesting in serious cracks developing within the coalition partners with National Conference looking for new faces to contest upcoming assembly elections and old horses complaining of serious heartburn.
The move of the National Conference to replace the old faces with new ones is for sure to cause the rebellion within the party. It will not be an easy job for the party to go for the hasty changes since the people are eagerly waiting for the change of the government.
"It is the six years rigid policy of the National Conference leadership which has left this party to perish. Most of the National Conference leaders are struggling these days like the fish out of water as the people have clearly estimated their poor performances," said Abdul Gani from Budgam who was talked to by Early Times.
On the other hand congress party is like a team without the captain. The man, on whom the Pradesh congress committee relied heavily, tasted the shameful defeat at the hands of the little known figure from the Jammu. The defeat of this triumph card has broken the party to pieces.
Some leaders from this party are also testing their wings as if they can fly on their own. In Jammu, it is the Modi wave which is still very hot and if the things go like this, then the Pradesh Congress Committee is going to lose most of the seats Jammu in the coming assembly elections.
Abdul Satar from Srinagar while talking to Early Times said, "People have rejected the coalition parties in power for their dual politics. At one point of time the leaders of the coalition parties call each as the worms of the dirty drain but the next day they forge an alliance to enjoy the corridors of power, thus leaving the people in the state of confusion,".
In this context Peoples Democratic Party has assumed great significance as the regional party. After the success in the 2014 parliamentary elections, PDP is riding on the wave and needs to take every step with extra caution.
If its leaders want to realize the dream of not only forming the government but also to emerge as the strong and trustworthy force of Jammu and Kashmir which can take all the stake holders on board, then it should be wary about its enemies within and outside the party.
People say that Mufti must take a cue from the defeat of the stalwarts like the ones of Doctor Farooq Abdullah and GhulamNabi Azad whom people rejected for their petty politics. His politics should be driven by the priorities not by the compulsions and must be able to safeguard the interests of all the three regions the state.
"The leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party must make sure that it does not become the shelter of the people who are the tainted ones. Some rejected people from the coalition parties will try their level best to make forays into the party to damage the image of this emerging power," said some people at Srinagar while talking to Early Times.
