No one from Jammu in Pro Kabaddi League
Players rue lack of facilities

Jammu, July 26: The Indian origin games like Kabaddi and others are sidelined against cricket by the state government and concerned authorities which is apparent from the recent non-
participation of players in the prestigious ‘Pro Kabbadi League (PKL)’ as the players lamented lack of facilities, sports kits and even the space for routine practice.
India is going to start a TVC created ahead of PKL through which , the historic game is finally getting its due. The PKL has the patronage of the international Kabaddi Federation, Asian Kabaddi Federation and Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India, but it is regretful for Jammu, which has its own Kabaddi team with many talented players, that no one from here got selected for the league, the reason for which is poor infrastructure as well as lack of facilities, sports kits and even space for routine practice.
Some Kabaddi players told Early Times that the players of Kabaddi in MA Stadium do not have a ground as well as the basic requirements. They also said that nearly an year back, the authorities had started the renovation work on ground but still the work is incompleted and so far only pavilion has been constructed.
They said that the authorities seemed to be non-serious about the work completion. They also said that the council have also given them another ground for practice at Gandhinagar, but the same is not sufficient for practice and the one which is sufficient is unreasonably blocked in the name of renovation.
They said no senior national and India camp has been conducted over a period of time. They also rued that they also lack safety kits and were even deprived of the refreshment facilities.
Several attempts to contact Kuldeep Gupta (Secy. Kabaddi Association) went in vain as his cellphone was switched off. Shifting the blaim over the contractors and the Kabaddi Association, Sports Manager Rajan Sharma said that the delay is because of contractors and he will be conducting a meeting with the contractors in this regard to give them an ultimatum for completing the work in a month’s time. He also said,“Its better to contact Kabbadi Association for details”.
