New Delhi, July 26: "Expo-2014", a three day Mega Science Exhibition was inaugurated at Pragati Maidan here today by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, MoS in Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Science and Technology is making rapid strides in the country but it requires a wider exposure so that its benefits may reach all sections of society. Dr Jitendra Singh said, the indigenously produced original products need to be more widely publicised and the exhibitions like this help in achieving this objective. While going around the different stalls, Dr Jitendra Singh took personal interest in discussing the displays in each stall and made suggestions for their improvement and optimum utilization. Dr Jitendra Singh also went to the Food and Technology section and singled out several healthy low calorie original food products from Indian sources. He suggested that these should be encouraged for display in various health and medical conferences. While going through the section consisting of stalls of different States to display the Government achievements and schemes, Dr Jitendra Singh particularly appreciated the indigenously cultivated and grown Mango species from Central India which has been named as "Nawab Mango" and original fruits cultivated from the western States. |
