Early Times Report

Rajouri, Aug 24 : After the Bharath PHC in Doda, it is the sub-district hospital, Noushera, in Rajouri which is alleged to be without adequate staff and medicines.
Angered residents also held a demonstration in Noushera town today, raising anti-government slogans.
Bhuvnesh Gupta, president of All Party Joint Action Committee (APJAC) said that in the whole district sub district hospital is at No 1 as for as OPD is concerned but it is at the bottom of the list as for as the availability of required facilities are concerned. People alleged that recently consultant physician and consultant gyanecologist were transferred but no one was posted in their place.
They alleged that even medicines, including life saving drugs, were not available in the hospital and people have to buy them from the market.
They also alleged that as for as overall development of Noushera tehsil is concerned it has been neglected both by the district administration as well as the state government.
They warned to intensify their struggle if the adequate staff was not posted in the hospital within seven days.
Sources claimed that out of 15 sanctioned posts of consultants and Medical officers, eight are lying vacant.
The situation in the entire Noushera Block is also not satisfactory.
Out of 28 sanctioned posts of Medical Officers in 5 Public Health centers, 17 posts are lying vacant and people of the entire block have been left on the mercy of god by the Health Department.
Whenever the attention of Chief Medical Officer Rajiv Sharma is drawn towards this point, his reply has been that the district health department is facing shortage of doctors and whenever new medicos are made available by the higher authorities they will be sent to these health centers.
