JAMMU, Aug 24: Oops……….He did it again! Yes the two-time Parliamentarian and former Congressman Choudhary Lal Singh, who is going to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tomorrow, once again displayed that he never hesitates to break the rules of propriety. Singh, who always hogs the limelight for his flamboyance, boldness and aggressive nature against those who fail to oblige his dictates, was at loggerheads with Kathua district police today since he was not amused with their security apparatus for the scheduled rally to be held at Ram Lila Ground, wherein he will embrace BJP. It was the turn of Kathua district's senior police officials who had to face the ire of Lal Singh, who became furious as soon as the officers divulged the details of the security plan chalked out for the rally. Since the chief guest on the occasion will be BJP national president Amit Shah, the police as well as para-military forces are not taking any chances as far as provision of a fool proof security cover is concerned. Not only Shah, other senior BJP leaders including Jagat Prakash Nadda, Ram Madhav, Avinash Rai Khanna and RP Singh are also expected to attend tomorrow's rally. The senior police officers including SSP Kathua Mohan Lal, Additional SP Yogesh Sharma and Commandant CRPF 121 Battalion RS Rawat informed Lal Singh that as per the security arrangement, the motorbikes escorting Shah's cavalcade from Kalibari will be diverted at Mukherjee Chowk while the chariot carrying the BJP president will move straight to Ram Lila Ground. On listening this, Lal Singh got annoyed and asked the police officers that he will not accept their proposed plan and dared them to divert the motorcyclists accompanying Shah's cavalcade at Mukherjee Chowk. In his inimitable style, Lal Singh told security personnel that don't teach him on security drills as it is not for the first time that he is holding or witnessing such a rally. Sources quoting Lal Singh said, "Nakke de baal putte, taan ge tusengi pata chalna (You will come to terms only if your nose hair get pulled)… Motorbikes will go straight to the venue and will not be diverted mid way….. Do whatever you (police) want to do, even use force to stop us…Route is not going to change at any cost." "I know who your masters are and on whose insistence you are creating hurdles for rally," said sources further told Early Times quoting Singh, who was pointing towards a particular police officer. Though Lal Singh humiliated the police officers in full public view, they remained a mute spectator and could not muster the courage to speak a word against the senior politician's outbursts. However, amidst all this, Member of Parliament & Incharge J&K (BJP), Avinash Rai Khanna, who was on the spot, tried to defuse the tension by saying that security must be taken care of and the concerns of the police should be taken into consideration. Meanwhile, Panthers Party District President Ravindra Pathania will also join BJP along with Lal Singh's wife, a former MLA from Basohli, Kanta Andotra and his brother Choudhary Rajinder Singh alias Babbi, who held the post of president Municipal Council, Kathua, a few years back. |
