Bhardwaj criticizes Pak for unprovoked firing | | | BISHNAH, Aug 24 : Senior Congress leader, Mohinder Bhardwaj has called upon the authorities to address the sufferings of the people living along border with Pakistan, in Bishna Tehsil and adjoining areas, who are facing hardships due to continuous shelling from other side of the border. He has demanded permanent shelters for temporary inhabitation of people to safe zones by way of allotment of small plots, houses or flats and compensation for losses suffered by them for damaged crops, houses, cattle and other belongings for which he suggested that existing procedures be simplified and the compensation be paid at the doorsteps of the victims of firing by Pakistan. Criticising Pakistan for unprovoked firing, Bhardwaj said that Islamabad should concentrate on its internal problems both on the political and social fronts.Bhardwaj undertook a whirlwind tour of the Pak firing affected border villages of Bishnah Tehsil amidst heavy pounding and firing by Pakistan on Saturday for an on-the-spot assessment of the people's plight and the losses suffered by them. Taking stock of damage caused, Bhardwaj held series of meetings with villagers to acquaint himself of their problems. The local residents of the villages took him on a guided tour to show their houses damaged by unprovoked firing by Pakistan. He discussed the issues with the local residents and then apprised the Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, DIG Jammu Kathua Range, Chief Engineer PDD and other senior officials of the administration regarding the difficulties being faced by the residents of border villages and requested the authorities to attend to the problems of the people in this hour of grave unprovoked firing by Pakistan. He assured the affected people that he will remain available round the clock to address to their problems. |
