NHPC denies land grabbing allegations

Kishtwar, Aug 24: Reacting to the allegations of land grabbing by some locals of Kishtwar published in local English daily, PRO to General Manager NHPC Dul-Hasti Kishtwar denied claims made by the few locals added that NHPC authorities are within right to take over the position of the land in question. He said NHPC authorities had already paid compensation to the land owners through collector some over two decades ago.
He said that after forceful occupation of the said piece of land by some locals, NHPC authorities approach the administration for vacation of the land. He said that after proper verification of the land records, District administration found the claim of NHPC over the said piece of land as genuine.
He said that it was senior officials of district administration Kishtwar who accompanied the NHPC authorities for handing over the position of land to them.
