Srinagar, Aug 24: Seeking clear mandate for National Conference in ensuing elections, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana on Sunday said a stable government alone can deliver on ground and satiate the aspirations of the people.

There is no crowd puller like Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah in the organization in whom people would repose trust. Immediately after facing rout in Lok Sabha elections held early this year, Omar Abdullah took a series of measures which reflect that the NC led government has failed on every front.
The employment policy was rolled back. Was the government wrong when it framed the policy, or when it rolled it back? The retirement age was enhanced by two years. Why was the decision taken after losing the Lok Sabha elections? Promises of appointing one lakh youth and regularization of daily wagers were also made.
Had these promises been made earlier, the situation would have been different. Omar accused New Delhi of failure to repeal AFSPA. But did Omar bring the erring police personnel to justice? The police men, of Omar's information are not covered by AFSPA. Omar barred SHRC from investigating he unmarked graves saying further investigation shall be done by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). Omar, however, did not form the TRC to deliberately hamper administration of justice. Omar even failed to streamline ration distribution across the state. People continue to suffer as the concerned officials do not distribute ration judiciously even now. |
