PoJK refugees stage protest against Govt | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 24 : Jammu and Kashmir PoJK Refugee Front- 1947, 1965, 1971 today held a massive protest demonstration at Press Club here against the Coalition Government of the State for creating hurdles in resolving their long time pending final settlement case. Addressing the protestors, president of the Front, Rachpal Singh Chib, said that after recommendations of National Human Rights Commission a financial package was sanctioned for the camp and non-camp refugees of 1947 Pak refugees in August 2000 but the State Government did not implement its all components comprising lakhs of rupees for non-camp and camp refugees that remained undisbursed. He also slammed the State Government for not implementing its Cabinet order 578C of 1954 meant for allotting Agricultural land to rural settlers and plots for urban settlers of all categories of PoJK refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 (camp and non-camp). Chib further lambasted the Government for making arbitrary amendments in Cabinet orders of 1954 reducing the allotment scale to a half for the refugees of 1947 (non-camp), 1965 (camp) and 1971 (camp). The president of the Front further criticized the State Government for not submitting the final Cabinet approved copy of the draft package designed for all categories of refugees to the Parliamentary Committee despite a lapse of seven months. Alleging that Article 370 of the Indian Constitution has been misused by the NC and Congress parties, who have been ruling the State since independence, Chib asserted for scrapping the same and declared that the protest rallies and dharnas will continue till Article 370 of the Indian constitution is scrapped and comprehensive and dignified settlement is provided to all categories of PoJK refugees. |
