Pakistan, K separatists in complete disarray | Geelani no factor | | Neha
JAMMU, Sep 5: Pakistan is on the brink of ruin. Its prime minister is being challenged by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and a Canadian citizen and cleric Tahirul Qadri. Both have asked him to put in his papers and get prepared for punishment. The army and the dreaded ISI are playing dubious games to weaken the civilian government in Islamabad. In fact, the army have virtually taken charge of vital buildings in Islamabad, including National Assembly, the Prime Minister's official resident, embassies, MP houses and so on. So much so, the army has directed beleaguerd Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to use force against the followers of Khan and Qadri, who have been demanding azadi from the "corrupt" Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and asking the authorities to hold fresh elections to the National Assembly under an impartial authority. Their followers have almost captured Islamabad's Red Zone area. The truth is that the internal situation in Pakistan is very bad and almost all the political parties, including Pakistan People's Party (PPP) of Ashif Ali Zardari, have joined hands with Sharif to "defend democracy" in Pakistan. New Delhi is keeping a close watch on the developments which have been unfolding in Pakistan and has adopted a tough approach towards it. The Indian Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Home Minister and the Indian Army are speaking in one voice and cautioning the Pakistani rogue elements to behave failing which a stringent action would be taken against them. So much so, the BSF and the Army have been given clear instructions to respond appropriately to the Pakistani evil designs. Not just this, the BJP-led NDA Government has also shown the Kashmiri separatists and their sympathizers in the establishment their rightful place by making it loud and clear that J&K is a bilateral issue between the two nations and separatists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and the so-called mainstream leaders like Omar Abdullah have no say whatsoever in the India's foreign policy. It was after a very long time that the political establishment in New Delhi acted very fast and told the Pakistani High Commissioner to Delhi that it would not tolerate any nonsense and that it considers meeting between him and discredited Kashmiri separatists as an interference in the country's internal affairs. That New Delhi meant business became clear on August 18, when it called the talks with the Pakistani Foreign Secretary. All these were steps in the right direction, but something more is needed. What is needed is a speedy trial of Geelani and others of his ilk who have committed several heinous crimes against the Indian state, but roaming about freely and preaching communalism, Pakistan and secessionism. The time is highly appropriate to initiate criminal proceedings against them and further weaken the ongoing secessionist movement in parts of the Valley. Remember, Kashmiri separatists and their movement against India is in complete disarray. We are simply required to make an optimum use of the situation to rid Kashmir of all undesirable elements. Also remember, that the Geelanis are surviving and thriving because the state apparatus never ever acted against the enemies of peace and humanity. |
