Secretariat Employees disgruntled with union leadership; Omar Govt

Srinagar, Sept 5: Employees of the civil Secretariat are disgruntled and disappointed with their leadership accusing them of compromising the genuine issues confronting them and allowing the government to take decisions that were against the interests of the employees.
While talking to "Early Times" many employees blames incumbent union leaders of Rouf group for assuming soft stand towards the government and failing to take up the matter with government in proper way during his almost three year tenure as President of J&K Civil Secretariat Non Gazetted Employees Union (CSNGEU).
They said that taking a cursory look and assessing the tenure of Mr. Rouf as President with regard to the welfare of the employees and his manifesto in previous election, they said that there is nothing to highlight, except dismal failure of the present union.
They said that during period of incumbent union, not a single benefit was provided or given to the employees on behalf of civil secretariat union or the government and added that instead the employees was burdened by means of imposition of water tax to the employees residing in Government Quarters, Increase in Power Tariff of the government residential quarters of employees by four times, GPF subscription installments have been decreased from 48 to 36, Withholding of pay anomaly until now, Providing of sub Standard food & accommodation in hotels to employees with Darbar move, Conversion of employees colonies into slums, denying hotel accommodation to the employees hailing from far of places of Kashmir Province and subsequently the similar problems were faced by the employees of far flung areas of Jammu when civil secretariat functions in Jammu during winter. They alleged that due to soft policies of present union leaders in power, the due DA instalments were not paid in time and also extended conditional 6th Pay Commission arrears in five year plan.
They said that present union has completely failed on every front in pursuing/highlighting the genuine demands of the employees with the Government. They said that neither union leaders nor senior government officials visited any hotel, employees' colonies during their tenure.
They said that the Civil Secretariat employees are well educated and know these tactics and politics of the issues during election time, added that they will vote and support in the ensuing elections to only those leaders who had the capacity to fight for the problems faced by the civil secretariat employees in successful manner. They said that they will vote for a person who will come forward to fight against nepotism, favouritism, under table culture and had a mission to bring transparency, accountability and positive change in the system/ union and to prevail justice to rise above the horizon created so far in this civil Secretariat.
