Ashok Sharma demands PM package as compensation for flood victims | | | KALAKOTE, Sept 5: Former MLA and Chairman All J&K Kissan Union Ashok Sharma has expressed serious concern over the heavy rainfall and flash floods during past few days causing losses of human lives, livestock, houses, crops. Sharma said that incessant rain has brought miseries to common man specially the farmers in whole of the state of J&K in general and Kalakote Assembly segments in particular. He demanded that the rescue, loss assessment and relief distribution teams be activated to start their task operations without any delay to ensure restoration of normalcy for affected areas adding that the built up infrastructure worth corers have been damaged and there is urgent need to rebuilt the same. "Special Prime Minister Package" may be sanctioned as was done by the UPA-I in similar situation. Those who have lost lives of their kith and kin be awarded compensation to the tune of Rs 5 lacs and a job to each family. The damaged bridges, roads, buildings, private houses be restored on war footing by spending money out of the public exchequer. Sharma also demanded pressing into motion the special Air force helicopters to save the lives of those engulfed in floods. |
