AJKDWCC condoles demise of people killed in floods | | | Jammu, Sept 5: All J&K Dhobi Welfare Centre Committee (AJKDWCC) held a condolence meeting under the chairmanship of Abdul Qadir- to condole the demises of the people washed away due to heavy rain in the state of Jammu and Kashmir since four days. During the meeting, he disclosed that at least 50 members of a marriage party were feared killed when their bus was washed away due to flash flood in a khud (stream) in Laam village of Nowshera in Rajouri district yesterday afternoon whereas nine more persons washed away in Poonch, Rajouri, Udhampur and Reasi areas in floods and nearly 350 houses were damaged at many places while over 200 people are still trapped in Surankote, Poonch and other areas as continuous rain for the last two days and floods created havoc across the Jammu region. A two minutes silence and prayer to almighty to grant peace to departed soul was offered by the members. The members also expressed sympathy with the bereaved family members and prayed to give them courage to bear the irreparable loss. Members appealed to every citizen to help each other and requested them to stay at a safer place. |
