HM, MoS PMO to tour flood-hit areas today | | | Early Times Report
NEW DELHI, Sept 5: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will undertake a tour of flood-hit areas of Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow. He will be accompanied by MoS (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh. The Home Ministry team accompanying Rajnath Singh will include Secretary (Border Management), Government of India, Snehlata Kumar and Additional Director General, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The Home Minister accompanied by MoS (PMO) will arrive at Srinagar in the morning to have an on-the-spot assessment of the flood relief measures. He is also scheduled to hold a review meeting with Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on the progress of rescue and relief efforts at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre at Srinagar. After the meeting with State administration, the Home Minister will undertake an aerial survey of flood affected areas of district Anantnag. Later in the day, the Union Home Minister, along with Union Minister of State (PMO), will fly to Jammu to conduct an aerial survey of flood affected areas of districts Rajouri and Poonch. Before his return to Delhi in the evening, Rajnath Singh will, along with his team, hold a review meeting with Divisional Commissioner Jammu on the progress of flood rescue and relief efforts in Jammu region. Meanwhile, the Home Minister spoke to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on telephone and assured him of all possible help from the Centre. As an immediate step, two units of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have already reached Jammu while four units of NDRF are being air-lifted today from Bhatinda to Srinagar. |
