CJ directs to urgently help judicial officers trapped in flood-hit areas | | | Jammu, Sept 5 : J&K high court Chief Justice M M Kumar has issued directions to provide urgent help to judicial officers who were stranded in flood-hit areas of the state. The courts, residential quarters, judges, staff and advocates have been worst affected in incessant rains, which have caused havoc in the state. An alarming situation has arisen in Anantnag and Pulwama which have been worst hit in the Kashmir valley. Some courts in these districts have been badly inundated in flood water. The ground floor of Anantnag court complex has been flooded severely. Judges themselves are stranded in the court complex. However, the valuable record of courts could be salvaged by valiant efforts of judges and staff, who carried the same to the first floor of the courts to protect it from getting damaged. At Bijbehara, sub-judge Madan Lal and his staff heroically salvaged the court record at their own personal risk. Ironically, the judge himself is stranded on the first floor of his residential quarter, frantically waiting for his evacuation. Chief Justice Kumar took serious view of the matter and asked the Registrar General of High Court Suresh Sharma to immediately take the matter with the state administration for providing the required help urgently to the officers, advocates and other stranded persons in the area. Request has also been made to rescue Madan Lal, sub-judge, Bijbehara, immediately. The administration in turn was requested by the Registrar General to provide all the required help to them immediately. Chief Justice also appreciated the courageous effort of judges, staff and advocates to save the valuable records of the Courts. (JNF) |
