| Total administration failure; MLA hostel not safe, what to talk of others | | | Sandeep Bhat
SRINAGAR, Sept 7: The present coalition government failed miserably in mitigating the suffering of the people who were trapped in floods in many parts of valley particularly in Srinagar city and its adjoining areas. There is total confusion and chaotic situation in the administration which is totally clueless what to do in such prevailing conditions. What to talk of normal citizens, even the members of Legislative Assembly feel helpless as they are trapped in MLA hostel which is considered to be the safe place in city. The water right from the morning continuously went inside hostel premises and the ground floor is virtually full of flood water .The dining hall and kitchen of the hostel is totally logged in water.The legislators who were in ground floor are finding safe areas in second and third floor. There is total chaotic scene inside the hostel. On the condition of anonymity, a legislator of ruling dispensation said that the present government has not been able to do anything for us as we are the representative of the people and are MLA from ruling coalition, if this is the condition of us, what will be the condition of common man. The power and water supply is off since morning and our mobiles are also not working. Another senior legislator, who is ex-speaker said this is for the first time, I am seeing no response from administration and it is the duty of government to see the condition of the inmates of the MLA hostel.
The water is logged in ground floor and it is increas
ing, the government should immediately do something to safeguard the building and its inmates including children, women, old among others. This government is not even taking care of its legislators, what will be the conditions of common masses, he added. Many people believe there is lack of coordination among the agencies of government and they were not prepared for this calamity. Only god can save now and people are offering prayers. |
