Omar humbled by Modi's magnanimity?
9/8/2014 12:33:50 AM

Jammu, Sept 7: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who was keeping a visible distance from Prime Minister NarendraModi in a bid to appease a definite constituency last time when he visited the state to dedicate vital public projects to the nation, was today humbled and overwhelmed by the concern of the Prime Minister at the prevailing situation in the state and the urgency with which the Union Government approached the unprecedented flood fury.
PM Modi's visit to the state just a day after his Home Minister and his 2 1/c in the Union Cabinet Rajnath Singh conducted an aerial survey of the flood situation along with Dr. Jitendra Singh and his instant and generous allocation of Rs. One thousand crore to the state in addition to similar amount lying with the state under Disaster Relief Fund has overwhelmed the Chief Minister who has been tweeting messages of gratitude to the PM whom he had been targeting covertly through his statements in the recent past.
PM's statement that the pain of Jammu and Kashmir was the pain of entire nation and no stone shall be left unturned to mitigate the sufferings of the people who have been affected by the flood fury, has left the separatists of Kashmir who had been fanning hatred and alienation amongst the people of the valley speechless. PM also appealed to the other states of the country to contribute to help the state in relief and rehabilitation, giving the message of unity of oneness to the people of the state.
Unprecedented floods witnessed in Jammu and Valley and the role played by the NDRF teams, Army, Indian Air force, Paramilitary forces and State Police in rescuing thousands of people at the cost of their own lives, might have poked the conscious of those who had been pelting stones on them and sympathizing with those who targeted them, but the tragic calamity has definitely humbled the Chief Minister and changed his tone and tenor at least for the time being.
