Approach road to 4th bridge now history, people still await compensation for acquired land | | | Bivek Mathur
Jammu, Sept 7: With approach road to the fourth bridge on Tawi disappearing in the rage of a swollen Tawi the previous day, those whose land was acquired by the R&B department for the construction of the said road are yet to receive the compensation. Anu Sharma, a karyana store owner said that R&B Department has left him high and dry as his land was acquired for the construction of road near the collapsed fourth bridge and was promised 100% compensation for the acquired land which the department had itself assed to Rs. 6, 37,400, but he was paid only 60% amount till date. "My two and half Marla land was acquired by the R&B Department for the construction of road and department assessed the compensationto the tune of Rs. 3 Lakh but I was paid only Rs 1 Lakh and sixty thousand", said Jhalli Ram, another victim of the flash flood. Meanwhile, people in the Belicharana locality have suffered heavy losses in the flood fury. As per Mohd Younis Bhat, a resident of Upper Belicharana whose 5 Marla house has been damaged in the flood said that over 35 houses have been damaged in the floods. When Early Times team toured the worse affected areas of Gujjar Nagar and Belicharana, people expressed their resentment against local MLA for his neglect and apathy towards their misery. |
