Letter to HC pleading enhancement of pension of Handicapped | | |
Jammu, Sept 29:Treating as PIL the letter written by Chairman Disable Welfare Association of J&K High Court regarding enhancement their pension, a Division Bench of State High Court Comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur today issued notice to State and directed Advocate General of J&K High Court to file response within four weeks. In the letter written by Shushil Kumar Sharma Chairman Disabled Welfare Association, it has been submitted that at present the pension of handicapped persons of J&K State is too meager comparing to other states, like Uttrakhad, which is paying Rs 800/- to old age and handicapped persons and widows and Harayana which is paying Rs 1000/- to handicapped and Rs 800/- to old, and and widows. In the letter it has been further submitted that during the 2nd last Assembly session, it was decided that this shall be enhanced within six months, but no action has been taken so far and further submitted that day by day the prices of daily use items and other things are increasing and it is becoming very difficult for the disabled persons to manage their daily life and they are waiting for immediate decision i.e. enchantment of their pensions. In the letter it has been further submitted that even out of these categories some persons are facing acute shortage of finances to get proper medical treatment. |
