JAMMU, Oct 16: Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ACOMS), GGM Science College, Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts and Government SPMR College of Commerce today sailed into the semifinals of the inter-college men's football tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus grounds, here. Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, ASCOMS shall take on GGM Science College at 10 am, while PG Arts shall be playing against Commerce College at the same venue. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, ASCOMS defeated Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor 5-1. Syed Shahaan (2nd), Usman Bashir (13th), Tahir Shafi (20th), Salman (49th and 55th) were the scorers from winning side. Vishal Kumar scored the lone goal from GDC Akhnoor in the 53rd minute. In another last eight stages match, GGM Science College trounced Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) College of Engineering and Technology 2-0. Anuj Singh (25th) and Pardeep Sharma (45th) were the scorers. To reach the semifinals, PG Arts blanked their counterparts from PG Law and Sciences 6-0. Niteshwar Singh (16th and 40th), Dharam Pal (20th), Ayush (36th), Stanzin (42nd) and Gagandeep Singh (50th) were the scorers. In other quarterfinal of the day, Commerce College clinched the thriller beating Government MAM College 3-1 via tie-breaker. Earlier, the match ended in a goalless draw in the stipulated time. Later, in tie-breaker, Pankaj, Rohit and Ankit were successful in their attempts on the net while from MAM College Aman Banathia was lone scorer.
Today's quarterfinals officiated by the technical penal including Gagan Kumar, Dr Brij Baloria, Ricky Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar, Taranpal Singh and Dhananjay. |
