Interactive session on Feminism in Urdu Literature held | | | Early Times Report
Udhampur, Oct 16: An interactive session on Feminism in Urdu Literature was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Government Degree College Udhampur in which Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Wani, a renowned scholar in the field of Urdu Literature and Critic was the resource person. According to press release, Principal of the College Prof. SS Bhalwal presided over the session. All the students of Urdu Department attended the programme. In his address, Prof. Bhalwal said that Literature has always been instrumental in projecting an image of women according to the dominant ideology. "Patriarchy has never allowed 'the other sex' to cross periphery and reach the Centre. Twenty first century should take forward the initiatives of 20th century to allow women speak and decide for themselves. The creator is valued more than the achiever and she is a creator of humankind," he added. Dr. Wani deliberated in detail on the contents of his book "Urdu Adab Mein Taaneesiyat' which is his historical work in which he has ascertained the status of women writers of Urdu in reference to feminist movement. |
