Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 16: National Secular Forum (NSF) today Protested against J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited (SICOP) Managing Director (MD) RL Tickoo for adopting pick and choose policy in giving benefits of various government schemes, benefiting only big industrial units and ignoring the small units, pushing them towards closure.
Addressing gathering here today, NSF University Unit President Qayoom Malik said that the main objective of government was to promote and develop small scale industries across the state, as the unemployed youth of state have been earning their livelihood but it was totally become a flawed policy for the last two years, when RL Tickoo was appointed as Managing Director.
"It is very surprising that on one hand government want to establish such units but others Managing Director of SICOP Gangyal, have doing job only for big industries and ignore small units", Qayoom said and adding that if government had benefited only big units then why they have given permission for establishment of such units.
He further said there are 9,663 industrial units in Kashmir division and 11850 in Jammu Division. A total of 368 units have become sick in Kashmir division and 89 in Jammu out of 336, which pointing towards the discrimination policy of state government especially, MD SICOP.
"How the unemployed youth of state will get jobs, if the SICOP is only promoting big units and has not been giving tenders to them.
What is the need to allow young entrepreneur to open new small units. In the backdrop of such facts, the much spoken policy of giving employment to youth is only eyewash", he said. They appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Industry Ministry to look into the matter and take action against MD SICOP, so that small scale industry owners would also get benefit of it. Among those who were present in the Protest included, Ajaz Shah, JV Singh, Julfi Singh, Narinder Singh, Amit Sanotra, Varun Kumar and others.
