Early Times Report

Srinagar, Oct 27: With the announcement of State Assembly polls, the security agencies have intensified anti-militancy operations across Kashmir. Official sources said, police have arrested three persons from Srinagar city and recovered weapons from their possession.
The arrests came a day after police claimed to have busted a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) recruitment module by arresting eight of its members from Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district. Official sources said following the specific information, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of police conducted a raid at Mehjoor Nagar area of Natipora in the city and apprehended three persons from the area.
Sources identified the arrested persons as Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Shaban, Irfan Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohammad and Shakeel Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan.
"Five pistols along with ammunitions were recovered from their possession", they said. The arrested persons are being questioned and their role related to any militancy incident in recent past is being ascertained, they added.
Unconfirmed reports also said that two more youths have been arrested from Srinagar city on suspicious grounds and they are also being questioned, sources said.
Meanwhile, a top security official said that the tight vigil is being maintained across the Kashmir particularly in volatile parts to avoid any attempt by militants to disrupt the 'peace' and poll rallies.
He said that appropriate security measures have already been made ahead of the polls across the State.
