Chaka residents hold protest against damaged transformers | | | Early Times Report
bhaderwah, Dec 13: Agitated over the inability of the Power Development Department (PDD) to repair the damaged transformers the residents of Chaka village of Bhaderwah area today staged a protest demonstration against the failure of the Power Development Department (PDD) to replace the damaged transformer of the area despite the lapse of more than 10 days. Although, protests now are becoming a routine affair in the Chenab valley especially in Bhaderwah constituency as the PDD has failed to repair the damaged transformers timely further adding woes to the people in mountainous Doda district. In this regard, the residents of Chaka village of Bhaderwah area today staged a protest demonstration against the failure of the Power Development Department (PDD) to replace the damaged transformer of the area despite the lapse of more than 10 days .The protesters warned that they will intensify their agitation and come on roads if the transformer of their area is not replaced within few days. Large number of Chaka village residents assembled on main Doda Bhaderwah road near their village and blocked road amid slogans against the PDD. A local, Sadiq Ali Kelu said, "The exams of the students are approaching near, but they cannot study as power goes off every now and then". "Whenever, we approach the PDD, they say that they don't have funds ", the protesters alleged and warned that they will come on roads if the transformer is not replaced within the next few days. Meanwhile SHO Bhader-wah rushed to spot and pacified the agitation people and after that people disperse peacefully .
