JKPCC chief welcomes BJP leader 'Saroop' in party folds | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 13 : Prof Saifuddin Soz MP (Former Union Minister) & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee welcomed Ram Saroop, a senior BJP leader into the Congress party's fold at Akhnoor and assured him that Congress party would give him respect which he never enjoyed in the BJP. Addressing the largely attended gathering, Prof Soz urged the gathering to support Congress candidate Sham Lal Sharma. Prof Soz appreciated the party candidate and described Sham Lal Sharma as a very able and honest leader of the Congress and also termed his contributions in the coalition regime as a minister. Prof Soz said that he (Sham Lal Sharma) defended the Congress position in the Cabinet to his party's satisfaction. He appealed to the people to send Sham Lal Sharma to the J&K Legislative Assembly 2014 with a thumping majority, so that he gets the position which he deserves to serve the people of the J&K state, especially people of Jammu the best again. Highlighting priorities of Congress, Prof Soz referred to Party's manifesto and said that party is committed towards settlement of refugees, Adequate relief including shelter homes to people living on borders; to provide proper relief to ex-servicemen; increasing the reservation for OBCs to 5% and constitution of Regional Council for equal development of the three regions of state. When Prof Soz heard youth raising slogan that Sham Lal had to be elected as it was a compulsion for Jammu, he (Prof Soz) added a new dimension saying 'Sham Lal Zaroori Hai, Party Ki Mazboori Hai'. Prof Soz concluded his address with sonorous "Jai Hind". Prominent among those who spoke in the rally included senior congress leader and Ex-MP Madan Lal Sharma, Sitting minister and party candidate Sham Lal Sharma, Kuldeep Raj Verma and Ram Saroop who after relinquishing his relations with BJP joined Congress. |
