Rajouri, Dec 13: "No politician has ever have received such a rousing welcome and love which the people of Rajouri have given me and I assure you to return it with interest in the years to come," prime minister Narender Modi said addressing a largely attended public rally here today. He said the people of Rajouri had become the victim of discrimination and successive governments of J&K and the parties that ruled it had neglected the area despite the fact that it had a vast tourism potential including religious tourism. Besides the highly revered ziarat of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah, Rajouri is known for the birth place of famous Sikh warrior Banda Bahadur. The area also has the famous and highly revered Gurdwara Nangali Sahib, the prime minister said.
"J&K has vast water resources that can light up the entire country but the state is itself in the darkness and people are forced to face long power cuts," he added.
He appealed to the people of Rajouri district to vote in favour of BJP candidates so that the overall development of the area can be made.
Addressing the rally, that comprised of estimated 25,000 people , Modi made held NC and PDP responsible for ruining the state and blamed the Congress for enjoying the power by sitting in the laps of these regional parties. "It was the power of the stable government at the Centre that has made the world powers to praise India's democracy and it becomes possible only due to the people of the country. If you want same situation in J&K, I need a full-fledged BJP government in the state" said Modi.
He appealed to people of the district to come out in large numbers on December 20 and break all the records of polling that took place in the last 4 phases of election in the state. "The people of J&K have proved that the ballot is more powerful than bullet and the percentage of polling has reached above 75 pc which was once between 5-10 pc in the valley. The whole world is watching the elections in J&K with curiosity and praising the changes that have been taking place in J&K" he said.
Coming down heavily on dynastic politics, Modi made it responsible for destruction in the country as well in J&K and appealed to people to vote against such powers and press the Lotus button for changing their future and for equitable development of all the three regions of the state.
He asked the people to reject 'father-son and father-daughter' dynastic rules and said that the region has faced discrimination on part of development projects and basic amenities.
He said, "does a common man ask the government for bungalow, cars, gold, etc? No, he needs safe dirking water, roads, proper electricity, medicines, better health care, etc."
When Modi asked the people if they had got all these things during the past 60 years, the answer was 'No'. He then said it would be unwise to vote again for those who had not fulfilled their basic needs. "Are your sons and daughters not intelligent to rule and run the state? Why to vote in favour of such forces who have flourished their dynastic rule business in the state. The time has come to punish them" said Modi.
'A saint, who saw a 6-year-old girl carrying her three-year-old brother on back and climbing mountain, asked her are you not tired? The girl replied he is my brother. The saint thought she might not have understood his question and repeated it thrice but the answer was same. The same is the answer I give to people who ask, Modi ji you don't get tired. 120 millions are my brothers and sisters and I will continue to work for them" said Narender Modi.
He said that successive governments had forgotten the sacrifices of policemen, personnel of paramilitary forces and of those soldiers who had received Pakistan bullets on their chests. My government will give them due respect, he added.
"Railway line project from Jammu to Poonch should have been completed which is very important for the development of this area and specially for the army personnel deployed in the area, but it remained on papers only," said Modi..
Claiming to be Pardhan Sevak, Modi said he wanted to serve the people of the state and would continue to visit here in 2015 also.
"No discrimination will be allowed any more in future with the people of different parts of the state. Changing has been taking place with a large turnout in the state for a stable and strong government for the holistic development. Now it is your turn to bring BJP's majority government in J&K" said Modi.
While saluting the brave people of the district who had received Pakistan's bullets on their chests and stood by the security forces to face the nefarious design from across the border, Modi said that he had received tremendous applaud and love in Rajouri and would return it with interest in the years to come.
