Jammu, Dec 13: Usha Vohra, First Lady, visited the State Headquarters of Bharat Scouts and Guides (BS&G) at Gandhi Nagar, today to attend a symposium on “Save Girl Child” which was organised by “Youth Talent Search- A Forum of Schools” in collaboration with the State Bharat Scouts and Guides. The principals and teachers from different schools of Jammu participated and presented their views on the theme of the symposium. UshaVohra observed that girls today are proving their mettle in every field and achieving great heights. She said that the society needs to provide girls with greater opportunities and ever increasing encouragement for enhancing their confidence levels. Usha Vohra stressed that teachers could play a vital role in creating awareness among the boys and girls about the rights of the girl child. She said that young minds, especially the boys, should be taught to respect girls and the teachers should build an encouraging atmosphere for the school girls to develop strong personalities. On the occasion, a pledge was taken by all the participants to save the girl child. Prabha Jain, State Joint Commissioner, J&K BS&G, presented the Welcome Address while Raj Bharti, Advisor, J&K BS&G, gave a formal Vote of Thanks. Among those present on the occasion were Roma Wani, Vice-President, BS&G; Nasreen Khan, State Commissioner Guides, and teachers from the different Jammu schools. |
