Rajouri, Dec 13: 10 days long workshop on 'Information Literacy and Plagiarism' organized by Central library of BGSBU in collaboration with UGC authorities concluded today.
In the valedictory function which held at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Prof IA Hamal VC called upon all researchers of Universities to shun the practice of cheating in research.
"Plagiarism is part of the broader concept of cheating in research in which researcher submit work borrowed or copied from someone else as his / her own. This equates to deceiving instructors and committing academic fraud which should be avoided in research in order to make it pure" said Prof Hamal. While addressing the researchers, Prof Hamal said that plagiarism is unethical and is not different to stealing and someone's ideas and work should be cited properly so as to make the research ethical.
He added copying is also killing the objective of research and said, "The point of written projects and papers by researchers is to help them critically think, create and communicate in written form and If you plagiarize, you evade this educational objective".
Ramesh Pandita, coordinator of the workshop presented 10 days report of the progress in the workshop and feedback by the trainees.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof AK Koul also addressed the gathering of researchers and appealed them to apply the plagiarism checking tools for your research in order to make it original. He gave certain hints to the researchers to avoid such practices.
