Jammu, Dec 22: As all eyes are on Tuesday when counting of votes will begin in Jammu and Kashmir and ECI which is credited to conduct free and fair elections for the first time has decided to introduce Videography during counting has also set separate centers for counting of migrant votes in and outside the state.
Election Commission of India (ECI) which is credited in many political and non political sections of Jammu and Kashmir for conducting free and fair assembly elections without any reports of rigging from any political party as has been reported in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir, is all set to conclude assembly elections by counting of votes today with videography facility to reject any sort of queries about transparency.
The details reveal that counting of votes will begin from 8 am across the state and the entire process will be videographed at all the 28 counting centres consisting of 94 big halls in different District Headquarters of the state.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula, Postal ballots would be counted first up to 8.30 am and after that counting of votes on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will start after that accordingly and in case counting of postal ballots takes more time, even then the counting of votes on EVMs would start at 8.30 am.
For the process of counting nearly 5000 election staff, apart from Assistant Returning Officers (ARO), will oversee the counting of votes and the entire process would be video graphed and trends will be shared after every hour of counting.
ECI for the first time has decided to count migrant votes outside the state as well and it will be for the first time migrant votes of all constituencies of Kashmir region will be counted in Jammu, Delhi and Udhampur.
In Kashmir all eyes are on Tuesday when counting of votes will start at all the District headquarters to conclude the five-phased election in the state stretched for nearly a month with an approximate of 66 percent voting.
As floods shook Jammu and Kashmir recently many theories surfaced when ECI decided to conduct assembly elections on time, however like rest of the state, Kashmir too witnessed a tough between ruling National Conference, main opposition PDP, BJP and state Congress besides some little known parties and independent candidates.
It was for the first time that outgoing Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah who's family used to contest assembly elections from Central Kashmir's Ganderbal District switched over to two other constituencies Beerwah of Budgam and Sonwara of Srinagar to somehow register his success, PDP which got massive public support during Lok Sabha elections decided to field their Chief Ministerial candidate, Mufti Muhammad Syed from Islamabad assembly segment in the south Kashmir District. Meanwhile, political parties have been asked to celebrate success of their candidates with austerity and tight security arrangements have been made around the counting centers to avoid all sorts of trouble between the rival parties.
