Early Times Report
BARAMULLA, Dec 22: The countdown has begun, who will emerge winner in the 12th general assembly elections 2014? The mood and eagerness of the people speaks something different, results will surprise many and these common masses spoke to Early Times from various areas of north Kashmir. Mohammad Hafizullha of Boniyar Uri put forth his views and told early times that, "today's election means a lot for us, first of all who so ever will emerge as a winner, we will welcome him but at the same time we expect some changes in the system like development should take place, and government should create some jobs for our unemployed youth so that they could get adjusted somewhere. People have understood the political sphere of the state. The people now want to come forth and bring their voice to the stage, as the high turnout of the state in the first four phases visibly tells the difference. "People want to see the dynamic change, so the concern is no more about who ruled the best before and is just about the potential of the upcoming candidates now, and will be seen on counting day, Hafizullha said. Another local youth of Baramulla town says that, " the past performance of these contesting candidates was not so good, but they put their all efforts of getting passed in examination as it was seen in recent election campaigns by motivating their voters and now let the results come out first and will see how they could have motivated their examiners. Actually people have realized the importance of the ballot box. This time the elections were not just about getting your finger inked but about getting your opinion voiced, youth maintained. Bashir Ahmad of Sonawari Bandipora spoke to this correspondent and expressed his views like "I am of the opinion that the previously neglected parties got the chance to come forward and participate as much as the timeless rulers of the state. People too are looking forward to see the change happening as previously every party has fallen flat on its promises and the reliability factor has been sabotaged with their failures. Bashir opines that change should happen in the political sphere of politics and people are looking for a bright hope of democracy to the state as well as the rest of the world too. Ghulam Rasool of Handwara assembly constituency says that, the sudden sway of awareness and democracy has made the separatists to take the back seat this time. People no longer feed their boycott calls and are counting on the individual performance of the leader taking the stage. Meanwhile Early Times have learnt from senior officials that, " all security arrangements have been put in place at the counting canters in all three district of North Kashmir, however concerned Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) would conduct the counting of votes and the entire process would be video graphed till the last moment. The first five phase election in the state starched almost for a month and there was over 66% voting in the state, the counting will begin at 8 am on Tuesday. |
