Jammu, June 24: The Public Joint Action Committee for Akhnoor-Jourian Road today appealed state government to direct the authorities to complete the Akhnoor-Jourian road, which has been lingering on for the last many years. Addressing media persons, PJAC member, SP Sharma said that widening work of said road had commenced from 1 KM to 18 KM in January 2011, which was to be completed in 180 days. "The project has been hanging in balance for the last more than four years, resulting in irrepearable loss to the business community, transporters, daily commuters going to schools, offices, hospitals, colleges. Border Roads Organization (BRO) has been instrumental so far as non completion of road is concerned. The monitoring by BRO has been poor and is evident by the fact that no drastic action has been taken against the contractor executing the work despite delay of more than four years", he said. He further appealed Divisional Commissioner to direct the authorities to complete the road in fifteen days, otherwise they would be forced to launch an agitation, for which administration would be responsible. |
