Early Times Report JAMMU, June 24: To save a top police officer's relative, who while driving a car had last September hit a pedestrian on a city road, resulting in his death, cash to the family and a bank job to his son have allegedly been provided. A deal is also alleged to have been struck between the police officer and the victim's family for a compromise in the court of law, according to police sources. "The police officer made use of money and a bank job to save the accused. For this purpose, the services of some senior police officers were also utilised," the sources claimed. He would have easily appointed the victim's son in J&K police but he did not do so, knowing that it would go against him. He, therefore, utilised the services of a top bank officer, who was well known to him, and got him appointed in the bank, sources alleged. A case against the accused stands registered at the concerned police station. Sources said following a compromise with the dead person's sons, police were allegedly contemplating to make certain changes in the case. "It is likely to be added in the case that on the fateful day, a car tyre burst as a result of which the vehicle went out of control of the accused and hit the pedestrian who later died during his treatment in the hospital. Police are also likely to project the accused as a law abiding person by stating that he had walked to the concerned police post on his own soon after the incident," the sources added. "The ground has already been prepared for a compromise in the court of law," sources claimed. Sources said the top officer moved very cleverly to win over the victim's family. He first sent by air his three favourite police officers from Srinagar to Jammu. These officers made all the ground for the compromise, sources alleged. When all the setting was done by the three police officers, the top officer himself visited the victim's family in the city to condole the death. |
