Degree engineers meet DyCM;express concern over manning of posts by Diploma holders in PDD
6/24/2015 11:50:00 PM

Early Times Report

JAMMU, June 24: The Degree Engineers of Power Development Department called upon the Dy. Chief Minister and Minister of Power Nirmal Singh to apprise him about the false propaganda being spread by Diploma Engineer Association with regards to factual position of Diploma and Degree engineers, manning the Assistant Engineer posts in the Department.
The engineers with detailed information brought to the notice of the Minister that around 209 Diploma Engineers are manning the Assistant Engineer posts out of which only 148 are Degree engineers.
They said that there is a big imbalance at AE level wherein diploma engineers have already exceeded their 20% quota and have managed to infringe into the Quota of degree engineers by sheer muscle and money power and secure the career progression scheme for their cadre only.
They further said that nearly 15 senior degree engineers were till date not given Grade 1 at their designated place and time as per the seniority but the junior diploma engineers were given benefits of Grade 1 too. This makes all the confirmations of the Grade 1 issued illegal and date the date of confirmations need to be revised in all cases
.The delegation was assured by the Minister of a thorough probe into the flouting of Recruitment and promotion rules by the previous Government and due correction into the imbalance of degree and diploma engineers at Assistant Engineer level.
