GRP books three beggars, challans two sales tax offenders

JAMMU, June 24: General Railway Police (GRP) Jammu booked three beggars and also registered challans against two others for violating the sales tax norms.
According to the official spokesperson, continuing its drive against the beggars the General Railway Police (GRP) today apprehended three beggars identified namely as Pawan Sharma, Sumit Sharma both residents Aligarh and Santosh Kumar of Auodya, under section 55/109 RPC and isteghasa against the same stands produced before the Executive Magistrate 1st Class Jammu against the said persons after completing all the legal formalities.
This practice shall not only help to upkeep the image of J&K among the outside visitors but shall also help to reduce the crime and apprehension of unscrupulous elements roaming in the guise of beggars especially during the Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra-2015.
Meantime GRP team at Railway Station Vijaypur apprehended one Ramnesh of Rajisthan with good number of toys without information to Sales Tax department. He was handed over to Sales Tax Department and a challan of an amount of Rs 640 was made on spot.
Earlier on June 21, GRP men at Railway Station Vijaypur apprehended one Rampaul of Rajasthan accompanied by three ladies with a consignment of goods including 05 bags of chappal without any requisite documentations pertaining to Sales Tax Department.
On the directions of Suram Singh, SP Railways Jammu, the matter was taken with Sales Tax Department authorities and concerned authorities seized the goods while imposing fine of Rs 1620 on the spot.
