MBS Club, Hiranagar in hockey semis | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 24: Hosts Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) Club and visiting side of Hiranagar Club today sailed into the semifinals of the Ist Mahant Bachitter Singh Gold Cup Hockey Tournament being held under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at Government High School ground, Simbal Camp, here. In the quarterfinals, played today, MBS Club outplayed Maharaja Ranjeet Singh Club 3-0. Gaganpreet Singh (10th), Ramandeep Singh (28th) and Navjot Singh (40th) were the scorers. Gagandeep was also named man of the match and presented with a cash prize of Rs 500 by the special guest. Meanwhile, in other last eight stages match, Hiranagar Club outplayed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club Poonch by a solitary goal. In this well contested game, goalkeepers from both the sides played brilliant game. Gourav Singh netted the all important goal for Hiranagar in the 46th minute. Earlier, during the match, Poonch got as many as five penalty corners but they failed to utilize the opportunities came their way. For his brilliant saves, Hiranagar goal-keeper was declared man of the match and awarded with Rs 500 cash prize. Today's quarterfinals officiated by the technical penal comprising Daljeet Singh, Joginder Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Karanjeet Singh, G S Bakshi, Jaspreet Singh, Rajinder Singh, Junwarpreet Singh Sagar and Rajinder Singh. |
