JAMMU, Sept 28: An accused, who is lodged in the lockup of a police station in Samba district, is alleged to have gifted its SHO a large size expensive LED so that he gets lenient towards him and helps in preparing a weak case against him. The accused, who was arrested by a police party of some other state, was handed over to Samba district police. He was shifted from one police station to another but no case was registered against him, police sources said. At last, he was lodged in the lockup of a police station at Samba where a case was formally registered against him. Since police were using all the methods of stickness to harass him, someone, on his behalf, struck a deal with the SHO and gifted him an expensive LED, sources alleged. Sources alleged that the accused had now got an assurance from the SHO that a weak case would be made against him. A gift would also allegedly be given to a senior of the SHO, sources said. After the alleged delivery of the LED to the SHO, the accused had now been allowed to meet his family members and take the food brought by them, the sources added. Sources said police earlier planned to book him under PSA but the move stood cancelled now. |
