NPSU decries lack of infrastructure, staff in Colleges | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 19: National Panthers Student Union (NPSU) today flayed the government for deplorable condition of the government degree colleges in the state which were facing chronic deficiency of labs, libraries, staff besides other infrastructure. Addressing media persons here today NPSU President Thakur Virender Singh said that despite the launch of several GOI schemes for raising the standards of higher education and sanctioning huge funds to state government, the condition of colleges remained pathetic. He said that majority of the colleges did not have the requisite infrastructure in the form of fully equipped laboratories, libraries, class rooms, furniture desks besides sanctioned staff. He said that several posts of lecturers and professors were vacant with rural and remote areas colleges being the most affected. He said that majority of the colleges established in rural areas during the last 6-7 years were running in High Schools and Higher Secondary schools and with the help of contractual lecturers. He said that several such colleges did not even have contractual teachers and the enrolled students were made to suffer for no fault of theirs.
