Khurshid-Aiyer episode Time for Congress leadership from Jammu to act 11/20/2015 12:16:24 AM Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 19: The Congress leadership from Jammu province, which had been putting in some efforts to recover the last space by raising Jammu-specific issues since the Congress' humiliating defeats in the 2014 general election and Assembly election, is in deep trouble. The reason is that the Congress high command comprising Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and their touts like former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid and former Minister in the Manmohan Singh's ragtag UPA Government have unleashed a campaign that has to be condemned in the strongest possible words. The Congress high command has almost endorsed the stand Khurshid and Aiyer recently took in Pakistan -- New Delhi under Narendra Modi not doing anything to resolve the Kashmir issue and Pakistan should help the Congress to oust the Modi Government to get Kashmir issue resolved. It is very significant and rather disturbing that the Congress high command has, instead of tendering an unconditional apology for the objectionable utterances of Khurshid and Aiyer in Pakistan this month, unleashed scores of its spokespersons to hoodwink the angry nation by repeating again and again that what they said in Pakistan was their personal view. These were not their personal views; these were undoubtedly the views of the Congress party - views which have outraged the nation and triggered fierce debate on the very credentials of the Congress party. It was hoped that the Jammu-based Congress leadership will identify itself with the outraged nation and the highly disturbed and perturbed people of Jammu province and condemn Khurshid and Aiyer and their masters, Sonia and Rahul. But it hasn't happened. It has maintained a stoic silence, thus giving covert support to what these two former ministers said in Pakistan about Jammu & Kashmir and the Modi Government. It is obvious that they have further annoyed the outraged people of Jammu province. Everything is not lost yet; they still can rectify their mistake and the best way for them is to tell the Congress high command that the people of the state in general and those of Jammu province and Ladakh in particular have not given mandate to anyone to speak for them and the State of Jammu & Kashmir. The Jammu Congress leadership has nothing to lose and everything to win by following a courageous policy. They should remember that the people of Jammu province never forgive those who do not defend India in Jammu & Kashmir.
