Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 19: In yet another instance of nepotism in Social Welfare Department, a blue eyed Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), already manning more than four hundred centers, has got four more projects in Udhampur district as his superior has gone out of way to favour the CDPO. Sources told Early Times that four projects under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), amounting around to around Rs 5 crore were given to the CDPO Udhmapur by District Programme Officer. "Four more projects comprising, Panchari, Duddu, Ramnagar and Goddi have been allotted to the CDPO. There are more than one thousand Anganwadi Centres that fall under above mentioned projects, CDPO Udhampur is manning four hundred, centers how can a single man take care of 1500 Anganwadi Centres", they wondered. They further said that majority of posts of CDPOs in Udhmapur district are vacant, for long, ironically the posts are not being filed by the government. "Presently post of CDPO Panchari, Duddu and Goddi is vacant, while CDPO Ramnagar is no leave", sources said, and added that monopoly, concentration of more than one project would definitely promote corruption in the department. |
