Udhampur, Nov 19: Udhampur Police today claimed to have arrested three persons for allegedly possessing 29 kg of poppy in their vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar highway in two separate incidents. According to police sources, a truck on its way from Srinagar to Punjab was intercepted on highway at Jakhani area in Udhampur district last night. "During the search of the truck, police team recovered 25 kg of poppy, police sources said and added, "Police arrested two persons Desh Raj and Mehraj on the spot and a case has been registered against the accused. Meanwhile in an another case, police recovered 4 kg of poppy during thorough search of a truck last night when it was intercepted at a naka on highway in Domail area in Udhampur district. Police have arrested driver Hardev Singh," police sources said, adding that a case has been registered in this regard. |
