Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 19: Imran Khaki, People's Democratic Party's Youth General secretary and In charge Social Media from South Kashmir's Bijbehara is likely to replace Waheed-u- Rehman Para as PDP youth president, informed sources told Early Times on Thursday.
They said that Party President and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti has decided to restructure the Youth wing as the incumbent Youth president Waheed-u- Rehman Para is holding key and critical position in Chief Minister's office and has less time for party affairs.
"Mehbooba Mufti has decided to restructure the youth wing and many leaders are lobbying for the post, however likely Imran Khaki from Bijbehara who played vital role in online election campaign by engaging more and more youths during elections, is being considered a strong contender and he is being likely appointed as new Youth president," an insider privy to development said.
He said that incumbent President Waheed-u- Rehman Para, who is holding the position of political analyst in Chief Minister's office, remains almost busy and due to which the young wing has gone almost dysfunctional.
"Para is part of government now. He is doing a commendable job in Chief Minister's office so the party wants him to concentrate more on the assigned job. Keeping in mind the load of work at Chief Minister's office, party president has decided to appoint another youth leader as President of the youth wing for reaching out to youths," sources said. They said that Imran Khaki, a computer science graduate pass out from Bangalore University has proximity with top leaders of the parent body particularly with president Mehbooba Mufti, Education Minister Nayeem Akther, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu and others. "Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed has also suggested name of Imran for the post of youth president," claimed sources.
Sources said that Imran has also gained the support of many youth leaders in PDP including incumbent President and Political analyst to Chief Minister Waheed-u-Rehman Para.
A top leader in PDP pleading anonymity said that Party President Mehbooba Mufti will streamline the party cadre of Youth wing before replacing her father (Mufti Mohd Sayeed) as first female Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
