Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 16: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has decided to go cracking against the land mafia in the Jammu. Highly placed sources in the administration divulge that the Chief Minister has asked the officers to identify the encroached land and start immediate and strong action against the land mafia.
The CM in her first meeting with the SSPs and DCs of the Jammu region on Saturday flagged off this as her prime concern in this region and has made it clear that the top executive officers of the district shall be held accountable for any further incidents of land grabbing.
The CM has for long expressed concern about the land grabbing in the Jammu. Even as a leader of the opposition in the State Assembly, she was disturbed by the large scale land grabbing during the previous Government headed by Omar Abdullah and had even then suggested that strict action needs to be taken against the land mafia, which had grabbed huge State and forest land in and around Jammu.
Now when she has become the CM it was for this reason that she flagged it as top most priority of her Government. The CM wants to see immediate actions on this regard. Sources said she had already got the list prepared on the major land scams in the Jammu district and will be taking acting against them after collecting all records and relevant details.
"She had given full powers to the DCs and SSPs to take action against notorious land mafia. She wants to send the message that her Government is for common people and not for those who had amassed wealth by illegal means," said a close aide of the CM.
Mehbooba Mufti had also directed the officers that they will not succumb to any political pressure and if they are finding it difficult to move then they can report the things directly to her .
"She has also sent a message to the BJP that she will not even succumb to its pressure on land mafia and that is major signal," said an official present in the meeting.
