Locals reiterate demand of bridge over Tarnah Nullah

Kathua, May 19: Alleging that successive centre and state government have neglected their locality, the residents of border village Janagi Chack, near Bobiya border in HIranagar of Kathua district today said that their demand for a bridge over Tarnah Nullah still is lying pending for the last 60 years
"The claims of Union and State government for all round development in Jammu and Kashmir and construction of roads along border and LoC, apprantaly fall flat, they said, adding, " we have been raising their voice demanding construction of bridge on Tarnah Nullah but successive governments have ignored the genuine demand of border people.
Worth to mention here Kot Punnu to Samba road through Bobiya though has been completed but this road is of no significance due to non-availability of bridge on Tarnah nullah.
"People from Chakra can reach Hiranagar town in 10 minutes subjected to construction of the bridge but they have to travel 40 km extra distance to reach the town through Sanji Morh, Chadwal, they said highlighting plight of border people and added Border Roads Organization (BRO) has called tenders for this bridge and the same was allotted to a private construction company BK Gupta Construction Company but construction still is far from to start reasons better known to the construction company.
Manohar Lal, a local said the people have to cross a nullah to reach destination, but some tragically have lost their lives in past during flash floods and annual rainy season.
Ashoka Kumar Sharma, another villager said there is no purpose of completion of Kot Punnu- Samba road without construction of the bridge. He demanded that state government to interfere and directs instructions for construction work on this vital project with immediate effect. He said this would not only mitigate the sufferings of general public but also facilitate to smooth and swift movement of security forces deployed on Border.
When contacted to Vinay Choudhary, incharge BK Gupta Construction company admitted the impediment in the construction work and added that company has finished all formalities but waiting for approval from R&B department for last 4 months.
He ensured beginning of construction subject to produce approval from the department.
